Mounting your home directory from the desktop
Click on desktop to bring up the default upper tool bar
Click on Go --> Connect to Server
In the Address box supply: smb://homesrv.cs.rpi.edu/
${username}
Click connect
In the SMB/CIFS Authentication window supply your UNIX username and password.
The workgroup field can be left blank
Click OK
Your home directory will be mounted and you will find an icon on your desktop labeled with your username.
Windows
Mounting your home directory from the desktop
Click on the
Start/Windows
button
Click on
Computer
Select
Map[N]etworkDrive
Select a drive letter to mount the share onto.
Type in the UNC path to mount (
\\homesrv.cs.rpi.edu\
login
)
Click on the box next to
Connect using different credentials
To make the share persistent select the
Reconnect at logon
checkbox.
Click
Finish
UNIX
cd ~ -or- use mount_smbfs instructions from the mac section.
